Visitors welcome as well as any UK Ramblers members. Four grades of walks, leisurely, moderate, moderate + and strenuous. We walk twice a week on Thursdays and alternate Sat/Sunday.
Our day-trips include scrambles such as the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe and hill-walks to Munros (Scottish mountains over 3000' ) in our local ranges such as Glen Nevis, the Mamores, Glen Shiel or in more distant areas such as Kintail or Knoydart. The Corbetts (Scottish mountains between 2500' and 3000'), over the Corran Ferry, in Ardgour and Ardnamurchan are also favourite days out.
Not all our outings demand super fitness; many of our members enjoy low-level walks in the area. Gentler walks can be found along the West Highland Way, Great Glen Way, Caledonian canal etc. While the islands of Kerrera and Lismore in Loch Linnhe are within easy reach by ferry. Another spectacular low-level walk is along the fjord-like Loch Hourn. Interesting days out combine a cruise along Loch Etive or Loch Nevis with a walk. Another is a ramble up Glen Stockdale, in Appin, with a chance to visit some of the deepest caves in Scotland.
Special-interest walks are organised and include hunting for rare orchids or butterflies, watching eagles and bats and deer rutting and, in the autumn, collecting edible fungi. Others walks include archaelogical sites such as standing stones, hill forts, clan fortresses, such as Castle Tioram in Moidart, and 19th Century Clearance villages.
We organise weekend/week trips to more distant venues. For 2018 there will be a week in June on Arran. Previous trips have included Skye (where the Cuillin Munros are always a popular attraction), Cairngorms, Torridon, Glen Affric, Arrochar Alps. Look out for further details in our Summer Walks programme.
We also have a programme of training courses every year which have included one day courses on GPS/Compass Navigation, Winter Skills, Leaders' Skills, Scrambling and 1 or 2 day First Aid courses.
Anyone who enjoys walking among spectacular mountain scenery is welcome to join us on any of the walks in our programme.
