The landscapes here in Badenoch are characterised by the Monadhliath Mountains and the Cairngorms National Park; A natural beauty of rolling hills, serene valleys, heather covered expanses and an abundance of glistening and ever-changing waters. The vast ensemble of meandering rivers, floodplains, lochs and marshes not only inspired the region’s name, derived from the Gaelic name Bàideanach, meaning ‘the drowned lands’, but also presents a living landscape in the most discernible way, through the dynamic element of water.
