Also known as Shinrin-yoku which literally translates to "take the atmosphere of the forest", Forest Bathing is the practice of immersing yourself in nature to enhance your health and wellbeing. No swimsuits required as we are ‘bathing’ in the awesome goodness that trees release into the atmosphere; reaping the benefits from magic little things called ‘phytoncides’ released via the trees own essential oils; receiving mental calmness from the fractal patterns in nature such as the spirals of pinecones and unfurling ferns and soaking up the visual calmness from the vast array of green and blue shades around us – what better place to do this than the Cairngorms National Park and parts of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest!
During a Forest Bathing session, you can expect to be out for about 1 & ½ – 2 hours, as I guide you through a series of invitations aimed at opening each of your senses and reconnecting you with yourself and the environment around you. You can expect to walk up to 1 mile, although our pace is very slow, there are also all abilities sessions available where we operate from one spot and if you don’t want to walk, you can sit in the one spot for the whole session.
Throughout our time together, we spend time sharing what we are noticing to the group and finish with a traditional tea ceremony to bring our experience to a close and thank the land we have been supported by during the session.
Highland Quietlife also offers sunrise and full moon Forest Bathing sessions to bring a new element to the awakening of our senses.
Forest Bathing is suitable for all ages and all ability sessions available.
