In October 2012 Simon and Laura had a look at their current situation of nice comfortable jobs, living in Auchterarder, friends close by and with prospects of promotion for both, all looked well. So, Simon made the interesting decision to quit his job and move everyone to Tillicoultry, where we have taken on the responsibility of running the Woolpack.
If you don’t know it and haven’t been before, The Woolpack is an institution. Generations of drinkers use the pub and as tenders of the bar it is our great responsibility to make sure that standards that have been in place for over 100 years are maintained. The pub recently won The C.A.M.R.A. Forth Valley pub of the year and it is in Cask Real Ales where we excel, with a choice of four ales, we use breweries from all over the country to ensure there is always a variety of tastes and flavours for our customers.
We have recently re opened our kitchen, and with Stewart Smith at the helm it has been greatly received from our regulars. We run a small menu, all homemade and produce from local suppliers whenever possible. The menu changes regularly but under the threat of death from several customers, his 'Fish n Chips’ will never leave the menu. Stewart's kitchen is open Friday 12pm-8pm and Saturday, Sunday 12pm-730pm and Monday from 12pm – 7pm.
There is a standing rule in The Woolpack that the only music is live music - no cd’s, juke boxes or ipods will cross our door. We have several in house bands as well as guest performers who play throughout the year. Folk, rock and contemporary music tastes are all catered for.
We are honoured to be here at The Woolpack and have been welcomed by the fantastic Tillicoultry community, we do hope you will come and see us soon.
