On 6th June 2024, Scotland will unite to pay tribute to the men and women, both serving and civilian. Whose bravery ultimately led to the success of the Allied D-Day landings and the beginning of the road to victory in Europe.
Exactly 80 years ago, Allied forces launched one of the most daring operations of World War 2, and the largest amphibious landing in military history.
We will pay tribute to their heroism, and that of the home front in our D-Day 80th Anniversary concert, Scotland’s Salute.
We offer a unique evening of music-led storytelling taken from eyewitness accounts, leading with preparations for the D-Day landings to Operation Overlord. Scotland’s Salute will culminate in an act of Remembrance.
This commemorative event will feature the well renowned voice of Alasdair Hutton OBE TD, previous voice of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, who will narrate us through the evening.
Music will be provided by the world famous band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Band Scotland, featuring their fantastic Corps of Drums. Not to mention special guests including the Military Wives Choir.
This charity event will help to support The Royal British Legion Scotland and Poppyscotland in their continued support of the Armed Forces community in Scotland.
