From the organisation that brought you Edinburgh’s much loved Syrian supper clubs, we are pleased to introduce Kasturi, a team of two Malay friends from Malaysia and Singapore, who are keen to showcase unpretentious, wholesome, authentic Pan-Asian foods.
United by their passion for authentic Malay cuisine, theirs is a culinary journey that would take you through the vibrant flavours of their heritage. Where they come from, food is a daily celebration; and Malay food is a melting pot of tastes and textures, reflecting the countries’ diverse cultural influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions.
Malay food is synonymous with spicy, although not necessarily “spicy hot”, using the essential ingredients in many dishes – rice and coconut (each in various forms), coconut sugar, chilli, tamarind, and in some cases, shrimp paste, and a plethora of spices and herbs – especially pandan, the aromatic, sweet herb used in both savoury and sweet dishes.
Experience the unique flavours of Malay cuisine in the magical creations of Kasturi. Savour firm favourites like Potato Curry Puffs, Nasi Lemak, Pulut Kuning and Beef Rendang, and Kuih Tepung Pelita, all of which will be the highlights of the Malaysian Supper Night. Your chance to enjoy a cuisine that has been very underrepresented in Scotland. We promise you a supper you will never forget – in a very good way!
Vegetarian dishes will be available on the night, if you have vegan dietary requirements please let us know and we will try our best to cater to your needs.
