“The Women, We Will Rise” is a theatrical song cycle by folk singer Karan Casey and director Tom Creed, celebrating the women of Ireland. Through song and storytelling, it highlights heroic women from Ireland's past, such as Agnes Ryan, Kathleen Clarke, and Countess Markievicz, while envisioning a future for women.
The project blends traditional and contemporary narratives, placing women at the heart of Irish folklore and history. Karan Casey, a celebrated singer-songwriter for over 25 years, explores new performance dimensions, integrating piano, spoken word, and theatre to connect with audiences globally while modernizing Irish folk traditions.
CaN Dubh is a duo formed by Ciorstaidh Chaimbeul and Noah Scott, who met on the Isle of Skye. Winners of a Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections 2024, they’ve since performed at Edinburgh TradFest and Piping Live. Ciorstaidh’s music draws on Gaelic roots and classical training, having studied with Djordje Gajic at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and later in Denmark. Noah, a 2025 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician finalist, has developed his own style to fit tunes from the Scottish Tradition on the clarinet. Their self-penned tunes, inspired by places and family, reflect their skill in melody and arrangement, showcasing their shared musical vision.
