Kaleidoscope Orchestra is a musical collective whose mission is to bridge the gap between musical genres. Drum n bass, dance, trance, grime and dubstep as you’ve never heard it before: Kaleidoscope uses classical instruments to play non-classical music in new and innovative ways.
Set up in 2011, Kaleidoscope was the brainchild of two Manchester University graduates, Steve Pycroft and David Tagg-Oram. The orchestra comprises a mix of young music professionals based mainly in Manchester and London.
After a viral hit with their Skrillex Orchestral Suite (arranged and orchestrated by Steve Pycroft), Kaleidoscope quickly gained a following on YouTube, racking up hundreds of thousands of hits on their orchestral suites. These include reinterpretations of music by Flux Pavilion, Major Lazer, Pendulum, Etherwood and Netsky, all endorsed by the artists themselves. Due to the success of these videos Kaleidoscope has worked with some influential brands and artists such as Cream, Gatecrasher, Flux Pavilion, and CamelPhat
Kaleidoscope is also passionate about raising awareness of the mental health of musicians and has recorded tributes to Avicii, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Keith Flint of The Prodigy.
Outside of the studio, Kaleidoscope has performed live at some top festivals and venues, having been on the bill at Creamfields, Sheffield City Hall, Liverpool Cathedral, Manchester Academy and the O2 Ritz, Manchester.
