The Cottage was originally build in the mid 1800s and was renovated and extended to a high modern standard a few years ago. It is a comfortable holiday home sleeping five with the character of a traditional cottage but the convenience of modern facilities. It is warm and cosy with oil-fired central heating throughout and a multi-fuel stove in the sitting room. A land line telephone and wireless broadband internet connection are provided for your convenience. The property is on the waterfront and boats can be launched from the nearby jetty. There are extensive enclosed gardens with garden furniture. It is conveniently situated at the southern end of the pretty village of Shieldaig which has many useful facilities. There is a village shop and an hotel with restaurant and attached bar which serves meals. Nanny's, just along the Corran, is a cafe/gift shop also selling local seafood and there is a smokehouse at the far end of the village. Inverness is only 90 minutes away with excellent road, rail and air connections to the rest of the UK and beyond.
Surrounded by the Torridon Mountains and Loch Shieldaig this beautiful remote area is the perfect location for those visitors who enjoy outdoor activities on sea or land. The spectacular scenery offers unique photographic opportunities at any time of year. The Cottage provides a very comfortable home from home where you can relax and enjoy this very special place
The spacious living accommodation consists of a large kitchen/dining room - fully equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave oven, dishwasher and a large American style fridge/freezer To the rear of this is a useful utility room with washing machine, tumble drier and pulley drier - there is a rotary clothes line in the rear garden. Leading off this is the downstairs cloakroom with shower.
The main sitting room has a multi-fuel stove and is equipped with satellite TV and DVD player. Double doors open onto an additional garden room which has french doors to the rear gardens.
There are plenty of maps, books, games, puzzles and DVDs available together with extensive tourist information and walking guides..
The Cottage has three bedrooms, all of which have stunning views across Loch Shieldaig. There is ample storage in the bedrooms and all bed linen and towels are provided. The duvets are 13.5 tog but 4.5 tog summer duvets are also available and there are hairdryers in each bedroom.
The Master bedroom has a super-king bed, en suite shower room with under-floor heating and satellite TV.
The large family bedroom also has a super-king bed together with an additional full-size single bed and satellite TV.
The small bedroom has a full-size single bed. .
The family bathroom has an antique claw-foot bath and under-floor heating.
A high chair and travel cot are available on request.
The Cottage is equipped to a very high standard throughout and all fuel is supplied.
There is a telephone in the Hall and Master bedroom and UK landline calls are free.
The Cottage has a wi-fi network for internet access - bring your own laptop.
The enclosed front garden with picnic bench borders the stony beach on Loch Shieldaig.
There is a rear patio with garden furniture and extensive terraced gardens. A small burn runs through the rear garden approximately 20 metres from the house.
