Swiss Cottage on the beautiful Ballindalloch Estate is a detached house set by the River Avon in the heart of Banffshire near Ballindalloch (0.25 miles) that is right on the Speyside Whisky Trail and well placed for exploring the Cairngorms National Park.
This historical building is quite striking even on the approach with its distinctive facade and raised balcony that adds some alpine charm. The comfortable accommodation on offer starts in the sitting room where the wood-burning stove provides a focal point and ensures cosiness throughout and dining area by the window to enjoy meals at whilst deciding on which of the nearby activities to try first.
From the hallway there are steps down into the spacious and well-equipped kitchen that has a handy breakfasting area and there is also a WC on this level.
Steep stairs lead up to the master bedroom that has zip-linked beds that can be configured to be either a double or twin room for maximum flexibility, an attractive twin room with a useful little dressing table and a family bathroom with a bath and shower over.
The balcony encircles the whole first floor and the River Avon can be seen through the mature woodland to the rear. Outside, parking is right by the house and, once the gates are shut, the gravelled garden area is fully enclosed. Past the garden there are paths that lead down to the riverside for pretty walks in the sunshine and, as access is just alongside, the cottage is very well placed for touring around the region.
