The ground floor living space is designed to make the most of the views with a large kitchen/diner and comfortable sitting room. One bedroom is on the ground floor and the remaining three bedrooms are on the first floor. Please note, whilst there are enough bedrooms for eight guests, this is for flexibility and the property accommodates six plus a baby. During cooler weather enjoy the scenic views from sitting room warmed by the peat fire and in summer time the gardens offer an ideal place to sit, take in the views and enjoy a barbecue.
Stella Maris is surrounded by beautiful countryside with the shoreline just a stones throw away. Wildlife is abundant here and you can often see sea eagles, hen harriers and resident short-eared owls, deer, seals and sea otters.
Easily accessible, travel here by ferry from Uig on the Isle of Skye to Lochmaddy in North Uist or from Mallaig or Oban to Lockboisdale on South Uist. If you would rather fly, Benbecula airport is a short 15 minute drive away from Stella Maris and there are car rentals, taxis and bus services available.
Benbecula is simply wonderful and a great place to explore on foot. If you are wildlife spotting head for Loch a Chinn Uacraich for otters or perhaps take a cruise on the Lady Anne to see sea eagles and seals. The islands are full of talented craftspeople and you can see local artwork, pottery, hand-carved stone jewellery and wool spinning here.
Foodies should head for a delicious evening meal at The Dark Island Hotel and the fish cafe on Grimsay called Namara is great for local seafood (opens lunchtime only). Take a look at the offical food trail 'East, Drink,Hebrides' a self-guided tour through the Islands, what could be more delicious.
