What a transformation! This very traditional Highland cottage on the shores of Loch Grosebay on the Hebridean island of Harris has been carefully renovated, reroofed, triple insulated and triple glazed to provide a most comfortable 21st century holiday home.
It stands a little back from the quiet single-track road, with wonderful views across the inlet to the front. With efficient electric heating and a stove for ambience, it really is the most romantic and cosy all-year-round hideaway for two people.
Nearby Tarbert (7m) has hotel and shops while the stunning Harris golf course is also within a short drive at Scarista. You can walk the 20 mile Harris Walkway and take boat trips including, most memorably, one to the World Heritage Site at St Kilda.
