The name Reka Vik is Old Norse for Rackwick (meaning jetsam bay) a beautiful valley on the island of Hoy.
Nestled in an elevated position on the hillside in a stunning location, the cottage takes full advantage of the panoramic views of the island of Hoy and its majestic hills, Scapa Flow, the islands of Graemsay and Cava, Pentland Firth and beyond.

Long ago this cottage served as a peedie (small) croft with farm outbuildings. The redevelopment of a new roof, floor, modernised interior, oak live edge wooden windowsills, usage of original cottage flagstones on the outside sills and porch creates a fusion of old and new.
By creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere with tasteful décor, furnishings and modern appliances this light, airy and well-equipped cottage provides the perfect home from home for making those precious holiday memories.
Guests may simply choose to enjoy the comfort of the indoors of the cottage to relax and unwind and take in the surrounding views, but for those wanting to experience the outdoors, it also provides the perfect base for walking, biking and fishing. Entering the property into a newly built stone porch with flagstone flooring allows space for outdoor footwear and coats ideal on return from a day of sightseeing and activities.
The lounge takes in captivating views of the Hoy hills, surrounding countryside and scenery along with the ever-changing vibrant skies and seascapes. There is a variety of wildlife, birds, farm animals and an abundance of rabbits to watch and hear too. A smart TV and an assortment of books and board games are available for your leisure. The perfect place to sit, relax and unwind.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for preparing your meals and dining. Provided is a hob, oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, crockery, utensils and a washing machine.
The spacious wet room features a Velux window WC, hand basin, heated towel rail, mirror and cabinet for toiletries. The underfloor heating provides warmth and cosiness. There is an accessible walk-in shower too.
The dreamy bedroom consists of a double bed with bedside cabinets and reading lights on either side. There is a small decorative coal heater that sits in the original fireplace. The alcove from the original cottage has been modernised into a small wardrobe.
