Overbutton Cottage nestles between neibouring cottages, down a quiet lane in Gattonside. With superb views to the Eildon hills and delightful south facing garden Overbutton is an idyllic spot to get away from it all. Enjoy sitting out at the sheltered patio for a BBQ or pop round the corner for sumptuous food at Seasons restaurant (Bea and Rodger are always delighted to welcome guests from Overbutton and offer a small discount!) A short stroll over the chain-bridge is Melrose, where there is a wide selection of pubs, restaurants, galleries and independent shops, not to mention the 12th-century abbey. There is so much to do locally including fishing, cycling and golf, or take the train from Tweedbank, 2 miles, into Edinburgh for a carefree day in the city.
Upstairs the cottage features one double bedroom with a super comfy double bed and a second single bedroom which can be a twin on request. There is an over the bath shower in the bright, tiled bathroom which has a heated towel rail.
Downstairs in the living room you will find a cozy log burner and smart TV with integrated DVD player. We have a range of DVDs, books and good old fashioned games for those occasional rainy afternoons. The dining kitchen is well equipped and includes a microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and coffee maker.
Our welcome pack includes Selkirk Bannock, fresh milk, fruit and fresh eggs from our own lovely ladies.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome (the garden at Overbutton is secure) and lots of doggy extras are provided. Doggy day care is available by arrangement with the owner, for a small charge.
Bikes can be securely stored in the shed.
A cot, high chair and stair gate are available on request (fireguard for stove will be in place when we have small guests!)
The cottage has gas central heating. All linen and towels are provided.
Parking is on the main street a very short walk from the cottage, though the courtyard can be accessed to unpack and pack.
