The old coach house is a beautifully renovated cottage sitting in the owners grounds on the edge of the conservation village of Moniaive. Once voted the coolest place to live in Britain and famous for its festivals. Its just a short 2 minute walk to the village centre with its shop, pub, restaurant, craft shop and more, yet retains the peace and tranquillity of the area for a truly relaxing break.
The old coach house sleeps six across 3 bedrooms, a double room with king size bed and en suite bathroom. Two twin rooms with a jack and jill bathroom making it perfect for families or groups of friends. A cot is available on request for the smallest visitors.
A large fully equipped dining kitchen with lovely views over the hills behind can set you up for the day and then refill again after a day out.
A spacious yet cosy living room with views over the well-stocked gardens is ideal to relax and plan the next days adventures. Alternatively sit and read, solve some of the puzzles or just sit back and listen to some music, watch television or a DVD.
A Utility room with freezer, washing machine and sink is adjacent to the downstairs wet room.
WiFi is available if you want to keep connected.
On the private patio area, a cup of tea can be enjoyed while listening to the nearby river and the birdsong. Being on the edge of the village there is very little passing traffic to disturb the enjoyment.
Well behaved dogs are welcome and there are walks on the doorstep to ensure they enjoy the holiday as much as their owners.
There is off road parking on site, or busses to and from Dumfries with a stop just across the road.
With plenty of activities available in the area you are sure to find as much or as little to do as you want. The area is beautifully quiet and quite remote as you get away from the main roads with plenty of walking opportunities in the hills and woods.
Moniaive is also the perfect starting point for a more strenuous walk along the 3 Striding Arches which are situated on the hilltops around Cairnhead.
A short drive away is the Galloway forest, famous for its Dark Sky Park, plentiful activities for all abilities and beautiful countryside.
The more energetic will be aware of the 7 Staines mountain bike tracks, several are a short drive away along with the Drumlanrig castle routes.
The golf club at nearby Thornhill is happy to welcome casual players.
