Nestled in a charming woodland setting by a babbling burn is Milton House, an extensive detached house built in the footprint of the original 1870s farmhouse and barn, near the historic town of Dunkeld (8 miles) in Perthshire.
On entering, the spacious entrance hall gives a tantalising glimpse of what is to come and leads through to the main living area that is partly double height with distinct areas for sitting enjoying the wood-burning stove, cooking up a storm and gathering to enjoy meals together. The kitchen area is particularly well-equipped with a huge gas range and two innovative chest dishwashers and off it is a lovely conservatory with a breakfasting table that faces west and is the ideal spot to catch some evening sun whilst planning which munros to ‘bag’ on the map on the wall.
With an open fire at its heart, the drawing room is another inviting place to relax, read a book, sample a wee dram from the whisky cabinet (honesty system) or have a go at tinkling the ivories on the piano.
All of the bedrooms are set out upstairs and the master bedroom is very generously sized with a super king-size bed and large TV as well as pretty garden views, a walk-in dressing room and luxurious en suite bathroom with a spa bath and double shower. The other bedrooms, two double (one en suite) and two twin rooms are bright and attractive and there is also a family bathroom on this level.
With a dedicated laundry room and a boot room with lots of useful storage the house really does have everything needed for a fantastic and most comfortable stay as well as added extras such as cosy underfloor heating, internet streamed TV and a state-of-the-art music system.
Outside, 2 acres of garden grounds surround the house with a large terrace seating area for enjoying barbecues and a vast expanse of flat lawn to the front that kids and pets will love running and playing on. Outdoor games are also provided. The burn that runs alongside the garden is not fenced so care should be taken with children.
