Borve Lodge Estate lies on the magnificent Atlantic coastline of the Outer Hebridean Isle of Harris and Laxdale House is the Estate’s traditional crofter’s cottage.
Sleeping 2 people, Laxdale Cottage is a traditional stone-built crofters house beside Laxdale Loch making it perfect for those seeking a more remote experience.
The cottage has been maintained in a classic simple style, with wood panelled walls adding to the cosy ambience. The living room has an open fire, perfect for taking the chill off a cool evening. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor which can be arranged as a superking bed or two single beds. The cottage has Freeview Satellite TV but little in the way of broadband, making it perfect for those wanting a get away from it all experience (mobile telephone networks are accessible).
Well behaved pets are welcome at Laxdale Cottage.
The position of Laxdale Cottage makes it perfect for any experienced or budding fishermen as it is beside Laxdale Loch which is part of the Laxdale River system, a stunning location in West Harris that extends into the Luskentyre estuary. Along with our other Lochs and Lochans there is fly fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout.
There are plenty of opportunities for other outdoor activities on and around the Estate. Laxdale and the Borve Valley, which is one of the few areas of mature woodland in West Harris, is a perfect location for walking and picnics. Beyond the environs of the estate, the walking options are endless.
Other activities available locally include photography, bird and wildlife watching and depending on the season, mountain biking, kayaking and surfing.
Prices from £520 per week (low season).
