The conservation focused Old Melrose Estate is an idyllic riverside retreat that offers guests a peaceful and secluded spot to “Retreat to Nature” with woodland walks straight from the door, an Estate tearooms for a refreshing cup of tea or slice of cake and stunning riverside trails and viewpoints all set on a magnificent, wooded peninsula teeming with nature and wildlife on the banks of the River Tweed.
Right at the heart of the inviting open plan living area is a wood-burning stove that keeps everything nice and cosy and provides the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring. The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed to ensure that cooking is stress free. The circular dining table seats four and the glass sliding doors open up onto the wrap around decking that provides lovely views of the woodlands that surround the lodge as well as the majestic River Tweed that can be seen peeking through the trees.
It is quite an experience to stretch out on the king-size bed and wake up to the beautiful scene laid out beyond the sliding doors that line one wall of the bedroom. Time will certainly want to be spent out on the decked seating area where the sound of birds singing in the trees adds to the soothing atmosphere that pervades here, making it a great spot for soaking up the morning sun or lingering over an evening drink.
The well appointed bathroom with its underfloor heating and ceramic tiles provides guests with a large walk in shower and separate bath for soaking in at the end of the day. The electric towel rail ensures that towels are kept toasty warm.
With walks leading straight off into the surrounding Estate and a path from each cottage that heads down to the wonderful river, Old Melrose Estate is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries and enjoy the delights of the Scottish Borders in both comfort and style. Guests are encouraged to explore the Estate’s riverside and woodland walks, picnic by the river, feed the Estate’s chickens, pigs and goats, wander round the Victorian walled garden or simply visit the tearooms.
