Balvaig River Log Cabin
Authentic log cabin in gorgeous setting overlooking river in an area of outstanding natural beauty in National Park. Walks, cycle routes and wildlife abound, fish from bank, watersports on loch, or just relax and enjoy tranquility.
This lovely log cabin is just a stroll from the beautiful highland village of Strathyre. The area will suit both the outdoor enthusiast, with walks and cycle routes from the door, or those just looking for some peaceful relaxation.
The National Park offers magnificent hills and glens, magical woods and scenic lochs and the cabin provides a great spot to enjoy this natural and rugged environment. This is a location where you can truly unwind but once refreshed and restored, it provides a great base for exploring.
The cabin will enchant you with its open beamed accommodation over two floors with comfortable living accommodation on the ground floor and a spiral staircase leading to two bedrooms. The wonderful wood burning stove is the focal point, radiating warmth throughout and adding to the rustic alpine ambience.
A veritable home from home, we can't think of anything you might miss. We provide logs for your stay and our cupboards are well stocked with all your kitchen staples, toiletries and more. Just turn up! You're sure to be delighted at what you discover. Even in poor weather there's plenty of entertainment.
Set in a tranquil scenic estate, it's a great place to relax and just drink in the wonderful scenery. Red squirrels are frequent visitors. Children love exploring the grounds which offer lots of space to run around enjoying the wild, rural countryside. You are licensed to fish from the river bank and there's a little shingle beach by the cabin where you can launch kayaks, with nearby sailing and other watersports at Loch Earn. The cabin is also in a superb location for cycling so bring (or hire) bikes since the tracks leave right from the door.
The Cabin is located very close to local amenities and is well served with shop/off licence, lively hostelries serving great food including Mhor 84 - Scottish pub of the year, cafe and even an ice cream parlour. Water sports centres and canoe and bike hire nearby. Indeed, all the sporting and wildlife watching opportunities of the National Park are easily accessible.
With numerous picturesque villages and attractions to visit, you'll find a myriad of sights to see and things to do. There are umpteen delightful days out to different lochs but of special note is the paddle steamer around Loch Katrine or a cruise on Loch Lomond. Uncover the history by visiting an impressive selection of castles and don't miss Rob Roy's grave when you're in the heart of his homeland.
