Self catering accommodation available in a recently renovated bungalow in a peaceful location close to the seashore about a mile west of the village of Portnahaven, at the south western tip of Islay.
Views from the house take in a wide sweep of land from croftland to the north and east, round to the Rhinns of Islay Lighthouse, then looking out to Ireland in the distance and west to the waters of the Atlantic.Consequently, a rich variety of birds, animals and marine life can be observed, with tide and light contributing to an everchanging scenery. A sandy beach and a beach with rockpools are within 5 minutes walk from the house.
The accommodation includes 4 bedrooms which can sleep 7, with 1 double bed and 5 single beds. The living room is large with excellent views and has an open fire, TV and DVD player. Though there is a separate dining room, the kitchen table is large enough to seat 8 people. The kitchen has been completed refitted, and cooking facilities include a gas hob with electric oven. A microwave and fridge are in the kitchen, though the chest freezer and washing machine are in a separate utility room. The bathroom has a walk in electric shower, in additon to the bath and toilet. There is also a separate small toilet.
Electricity, gas and solid fuel are included in the weekly charge. Bedlinen and towels can be provided at an additional charge. No pets can be accommodated and no smoking is requested in the house. We have a minimum stay requirement of 4 nights and also offer a 10% reduction for stays of 7 nights.
In Portnahaven there is a general merchant and post office, and also a pub which provides meals using local produce, drinks and snacks.
