Loch Ness and the Highlands
This fabulous full day tour will introduce you to the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands, mysterious Loch Ness and dramatic Glen Coe. Get a real taste of Scotland in just one day.
We swap cityscapes for country views as our special journey heads over the Firth of Forth and through the Kingdom of Fife. We stop for morning coffee in Pitlochry, an attractive town in a beautiful setting of loch, river, mountain and forest.
We pass the starkly whitewashed Blair Castle, the home of the Dukes of Atholl, before climbing through Glen Garry and the Grampian Mountains to reach the picturesque Cairngorm National Park. We continue to Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands where we'll view it's 18th Century Castle overlooking the RIver Ness during our panoramic tour.
Outstanding Loch Ness is the highlight of our day's tour. At 24 miles long and up to 700 feet deep, the sheer expanse of this lake is truly impressive. We stop for lunch here and there is time to enjoy an optional monster-spotting cruise to Urquhart Castle or enjoy a stroll along the banks of the loch.
Our journey continues through the Great Glen, where we enjoy a panorama of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, before arriving in Fort William.
Glen Coe is famed for its majestic mountains and spectacular scenery. It owes its looming atmosphere to the notorious massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells in 1692 on this site. We make a stop here so you can capture the haunting magic of this special place. We continue next to the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor with its peat bogs, streams and little lochans.
We stop for afternoon tea against a backdrop of magnificent scenery before crossing from the Highlands back into the Lowlands. We join the motorway for the last part of our journey, with wonderful views of Stirling and its impressive castle on the way back to Edinburgh.
Between the months of November and March this tour may operate in reverse direction.
