Loch Awe and Inveraray
Journey From Oban towards Inveraray, through the Pass of Brander, marvel at Ben Cruachan the "Hollow Mountain" and visit St Conan's kirk, See Kilchurn Castle and Loch Awe, tour Inveraray Castle and and the wonderful scenery along the way.
You will be met in Oban by your driver/guide who will escort you to your transport ready to commence your tour.
You will leave Oban heading north east. This scenic drive takes us along the shore of loch Etive and through the small towns of Connel and Taynuilt. We then travel through the "Pass Of Brander" where in 1308 King Robert the Bruce fought and defeated the MacDougalls of Argyll, then carry on along the shore of Loch Awe in the shadow of Ben Cruachan , the "Hollow Mountain" where in the 1950s a large hydro electric scheme was built into the mountain.
We will then stop at St Conan's Kirk, located in the parish of Loch awe. Designed by Walter Douglas Campbell, it was built between 1881 and 1886 and is renowned for the fragment of bone rumoured to have come from Robert The Bruce.
We then continue our Journey to Kilchurn Castle at the head of Loch Awe where we can visit or just make a photo stop ( you decide). We then travel to the town of Inveraray from here you can visit Inveraray Castle the ancestral home to the Dukes of Argyll (entrance fee applies). The current Duke is the 13th Duke of Argyll and 27th Chieftain of the Clan Campbell, this is a must see for any Campbell's and for fans of Downton Abbey ( Shrimpies castle ). You can be guided round the castle by your driver/guide who is well versed in the history of the castle . you will also have a short time to visit the gift shop and tea room. You will then return to Oban.
As we are a bespoke tour company this itinerary is only a guide and can be amended to suit your needs, interests and time available. There are many other options available from Oban, this tour is to the more popular sightseeing attractions. Remember This is YOUR tour and you decide what you see and when and where you stop.

Appin and Glencoe Tour.
Inveraray and Kilmartin tour.
A Falconry Experience at Kintail birds of Prey can be arranged to fit in with your tour ( time and availability permitting)
A visit to the "Bridge over the Atlantic" and Tigh-An-truish ( house of trousers) pub/restuarant where it is said highlanders changed out of kilts into trousers at a time when wearing a kilt or any thing that identified you as a highlander, was banned.
Due to Covid-19 kintail birds of prey have not yet re opened and Inveraray castle is re opening 27 May 2021 advanced booking is required.
