Isle of Skye - 5 Day Tour
Discover everything the Isle of Skye has to offer with a private driving tour around the island.
DAY 1
From your pick up point of choice, travel across to the Isle of Skye via ferry*, from Glenelg to Kylerhea. Once on the island, travel up to Sligachan, where we will stop off and you will have time to explore the area and the famous old bridge with its enchanted waters. From here, we will travel up to Portree and stay the night. You will have the evening to yourself to explore the town, including the harbour with it's famous shore line of colourful houses.
DAY 2
Setting off from Portreee to the Old Man of Storr. The hike is just over an hour long, taking in a long the way some incredible views over this part of the island, before heading back to set off for the Skye Museum of Island Life. The museum consists of a number of thatched cottages that have been preserved, and will give you a real feel for how the islander's lived here in the 18th century. Lastly we will travel down to the magical Fairy Glen.
DAY 3
Leaving the Fairy Glen behind, we head across the island to Dunvegan Castle. Spend the morning exploring the grounds and having a bite to eat before carrying on further west to the Neist Point Lighthouse. We will stop here over night.
DAY 4
Head over to the Giant Macaskill Museum in the morning, this is a small but welcoming museum, with an abundance of history to enjoy before stopping off for a spot of lunch looking out of Loch Dunvegan. And a visit to the island wouldn't be complete with out sampling some of its finest whisky! Travelling south down the island from the museum, our next stop of the day is Talisker Distillery**. Enjoy sampling the whiksy as your tour guide talks you through the history and process of the distillery. Lastly, we will head over to the Fairy Pools, experience the clearest of blue waters on the River Brittle, with a number of waterfalls cascading down in to the crystal blue pools below. Magical!
DAY 5
Enjoy the scenery as we drive back towards the mainland, crossing over the Skye Bridge. This bridge has made access to the island a lot easier in the past 20 years and towers high over the loch below that leads out towards the open sea. Our last stop of the 5 day tour is Eilean Donan Castle. Although the castle is not on the island itself, as it is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, it is well worth a visit whilst we travel back towards your drop off point.
*This is subject to availability and weather conditions permitting. Should the ferry be unavailable, the Skye Bridge will be taken instead.
**Please note that the legal age of alcohol consumption in Scotland is 18 years old, carrying a form of I.D is strongly advised.
