Classic Round Scotland by Train - McKinlay Kidd
Designed for travelers without a car looking to experience authentic Scotland independently by train. Any element of this trip can be tailor-made to suit your individual requirements - just give us a call on 0141 260 9260.
We have designed this holiday especially for ‘car-less’ travellers who want to experience authentic Scotland independently: from Glasgow to the Highlands and Isle of Skye, then on via Inverness to Perthshire and Edinburgh. A wealth of sights and sounds await on this Scottish train tour, including a first class journey on the famous Jacobite Express.
Pricing
£2295 per person for April & October and £2395 per person for May through September.
Price is based on two adults sharing a double or twin room for 7 nights in our hand-picked selection of small 3 and 4 star hotels. Dinner is included for 3 nights – the first night and both nights at Pitlochry. Other nights include breakfast. This holiday also includes:
- Train travel in standard class on the West Highland Line between Glasgow and Fort William, the North Highland Line between Kyle of Lochalsh and Inverness, and between Inverness, Pitlochry and Edinburgh.
- First class single journey on the Jacobite Express Steam Train, from Fort William to Mallaig. In 2018 the Jacobite will run from March 30th to October 26th.
- Transfers to and from the train at all locations, except for Glasgow, Edinburgh & Inverness.
The supplement for a single traveller is available on request.
To explore the Isle of Skye, as local bus services are quite limited, we strongly recommend either hiring a car or taking a guided tour, with one of our local guides. To hire a car during your stay on Skye costs an additional £120. To join a small group guided tour of Skye costs an additional £60 per person.
Before your departure, you will receive personalised holiday information including full directions, recommended routes, and suggestions on places to visit depending on your interests and our local knowledge to help you get the most from your holiday.
